Korean Kiss Scene 2016 Christian North Korea, how was it a hundred years prior?
Some of my perusers/listeners might feel down today. It transpires all the time in the educational system where I work. Some might confront affliction or monetary misfortune. In any case, odds are none of us are encountering anything like the consistent stream of abhorrence executed on the Christian occupants of the Korean promontory. We're back in the early part of the twentieth century there, amid the Japanese occupation. The new experts turned out to be oppressive to the point that local Koreans, drove in extensive part by devotees, took to the road. Japan responded. The torment started. A columnist of the day composed:
"Men and young men were trussed and suspended from the roofs so that their weight held tight the shoulders. In this manner they were raised and brought down til oblivious. They had their fingers squeezed over super hot wires. Their exposed tissue was slashed with sharp snares and burned with hot irons. Toenails were torn from the tissue with pliers. Men were set in a tight box and after that spoiled. They were tied up, their heads constrained back, and boiling hot water or an answer of water and red pepper poured down their nostrils. Fragments of wood were pushed far under their fingernails. They were whipped until they must be taken to healing centers, where huge sections of gangrenous skin must be cut off. As a rule they were flagellated to death. [These tortures] were not done a few times, but rather more than once for a considerable length of time and evenings, hours on end, until the casualty admitted, whether he had anything to admit or not..."
A 21-year-old Christian female from Pyongyang gave Presbyterian preachers a marked proclamation of how ladies were dealt with. I won't have the capacity to share all of what she said. Be that as it may, the most devoted supporters of Jesus were embarrassed, beaten into obviousness, blazed with lit cigarettes, constrained to "look after children" groups of dead men, bound hand and foot in stocks, presented to terrible obscene comments, unendingly. "A portion of the young ladies were changed to the point that they didn't look like people."
Church papers in the U.S. start relating reality about the barbarities as they hear them from the preachers. So the Japanese need to dispose of the correspondents. Two hundred "hooligans" are brought over from Japan to threaten these delegates of Christ's kingdom. Homes must be monitored each night. Individuals are beaten. Others sentenced to jail terms. At that point the world press gets the story. Japan yields and creates changes, which last around ten years.
In the thirties there is again a new product of Japanese hardliners that ascents to stifle Christians. More captures. More standards. In 1937 understudies at Christian schools are told they should revere the Sun Goddess. Unquestionably all Christians said NO? Off-base. The Methodists oblige the thought, saying this is only a social energetic thing, not a religious one. Presbyterians don't go along yet they choose to close their schools. The observer of Christ is being snuffed out.
Some places of worship are given comparable controls. Christians who neglect to adore at a Shinto altar are to be detained. At that point in '39 all outside teachers are compelled to leave the nation out and out. The adherents who are abandoned keep on being influenced into trade off. Not any more Old Testaments permitted in love. No New Testament entries that case Christ to be Lord and King can be declared! Families are compelled to "purify through water" their youngsters into the Shinto religion. Church structures appropriated. Pastorate drafted for work for the war exertion (World War II).
Yes, every one of this before Kim and Communism. And every one of this after Pyongyang is known as the "Jerusalem" of the East. What a history this landmass has known! How God's kin have paid a cost throughout the years! Inspires you to pondering once again, would I have stood firm? Would I have rationally looked for departure from the cross by saying Sun love is only "devoted"? Would I have shrouded an Old Testament and taught it dependably to my youngsters, as I would in the free world? Would I have discovered approaches to lecture Jesus IS Lord and King, and will one day lead the world when He comes in wonderfulness? I have now. Would I have then? Would I have given them a chance to constrain me into newborn child submersion and a false religion? I battled the greater part of that here. Shouldn't something be said about there?
Simple to say, "Master we can tolerate the cross, to drink the glass." It all sounds so beautiful and sentimental and brilliant. In any case, Peter discovered that all the discussion on the planet doesn't set one up for a capture amidst the night. May Jesus' Spirit make us prepared. Until further notice let us continue appealing to God for the individuals who happily give their lives away to Jesus.
Gracious how the adversary of our spirit despises us! In spite of the fact that it is guaranteed that on the off chance that we oppose his enticements he will escape from us, there is no escaping from the awful disdain he is on occasion permitted to spill out on those eager to hold up under the cross of Christ.
